About Ned Maps

Ned Maps is a free, independent tool for planning Minnesota fishing trips, built by David Berget, an angler in Minnesota. It started as a simpler way to compare DNR survey data across lakes.

Everything here is built on public data: Minnesota DNR lake surveys, stocking records and depth maps, plus open weather data. Where we derive a number (a verdict, a spot score, a trip plan), we say exactly what it covers and what it doesn't. When the data can't support a claim, we say that instead.

Why "Ned"?

It's named for the Ned rig, a simple finesse jig that works just about anywhere. Ned Maps is meant to be the same: simple and useful.

Ned Maps is not affiliated with the Minnesota DNR. Some gear links are Amazon affiliate links, marked where they appear. They help pay the hosting bill. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
